The latest episode of my favorite podcast, WNYC/NPR’s Radiolab, discusses “falling”:
There are so many ways to fall—in love, asleep, even flat on your face. This hour, Radiolab dives into stories of great falls.
They even discuss the terminal velocity of a falling cat (about nine stories).
If you’ve ever played Portal, you might know what falling into a bottomless portal loop is like (just watch the first few seconds to get the idea):
Not too long ago I sketched out a bad dream I had of my own great fall, one where I’m not falling off my bike, but falling with my bike, in an infinite portal loop, forever chasing a slice of cake and a portal gun that’s my only chance of escape.
As it turns out, for some people, falling at terminal velocity on a bicycle is a reality:
Perhaps I’ll be the first to land a bike while drumming skydiving.
